Graduate exam number two is done! So glad to have that behind me. Two more group projects and a final and then I am done with this class and moving on!
The OSU Vet called me today with information on Louie. They found an endocrine tumor in his spleen. The vet said this is not a typical place for this kind of tumor, but that cancer does what it wants and can grow just about anywhere. She also said that Louie had degenerative brain tissue. This could possibly be Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS). He was very unsteady the last few weeks and this could explain that. We thought it might have been from his sore on his leg, but this makes more sense. I would find him stuck on his side or back and would have to right him.
The vet is going to continue doing more research on the tumor. She wants to know if they lab has seen anything like this before, and if the tumor was causing a hormonal imbalance, or possible even producing hormones. She mentioned to me that if it was okay with me they might go ahead and write up a case on him. I told them to go for it. Whatever information they have they can use. She said if his case happens to get published, they would make sure and get me a copy. I will keep you updated!
Two weekends ago was Halloween. I am always behind on pictures so you won't see them until another post or two. Ryan and I got to see each and every one of our nieces and nephews. How blessed we are. They were all so cute in their costumes!
We also held the 2nd Annual Reinschmiedt Pumpkin Carving Contest! It was very competitive this year. We had a winner in the traditional pumpkin carving category as well as a winner in the nontraditional category. The winner of those categories then went against each other for the grand prize traveling trophy! I of course can't give away who the winners were just yet. (Darn me for being behind!)
